Merry Christmas och God Jul!

Posted by High Priestess Kang as Celebrations

Now I’m wondering if, “Father Christmas” by The Kinks is my favorite Christmas song.  I think it’s been replaced.

Fairytale of New York - The Pogues

It was Christmas Eve babe
In the drunk tank
An old man said to me, won’t see another one
And then he sang a song
The Rare Old Mountain Dew
I turned my face away
And dreamed about you

Got on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one
I’ve got a feeling
This year’s for me and you
So happy Christmas
I love you baby
I can see a better time
When all our dreams come true

They’ve got cars big as bars
They’ve got rivers of gold
But the wind goes right through you
It’s no place for the old
When you first took my hand
On a cold Christmas Eve
You promised me
Broadway was waiting for me

You were handsome
You were pretty
Queen of New York City
When the band finished playing
They howled out for more
Sinatra was swinging,
All the drunks they were singing
We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night

The boys of the NYPD choir
Were singing “Galway Bay”
And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day

You’re a bum
You’re a punk
You’re an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag, you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy Christmas your arse
I pray God it’s our last

I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can’t make it all alone
I’ve built my dreams around you

Merry Christmas och God Jul my cyber peeps.

Much love ~ Marnie

I’m gonna have to hear that one. I’ll find it online later.

Link’s in the title of the song. They have the mp3 on the website.

Such a great tune. Such a great phucking tune!

I’m longing for the day’s of sitting around Kent & Clarinda’s with the bitter O’Neils and getting loaded while arguing about politics, Ireland and things of that ilk.

I heard that song for the first time this Christmas season and it quickly became one of my favorite Christmas songs. Excellent choice, Kangers.

Thanks!

Doesn’t it make you feel Swedish…and want to sing with a drink in your hand?

Sure does! Especially the part about the cold wind..brrr. Alcohol is a much bigger part of any Christmas festivities over here than in the US. If you’re not drinking, singing, or both on Christmas then there’s something wrong with you. That’s why they always celebrate everything the evening before so they can have the next day to recover..lol.

LOL!

We Americans are so full of fail and backwards!!! I have to work the day after.

God Jul och skit! Don’t eat and drink too much!

I’d have said the singing is a much bigger part of the festivities here… ;D

*sulks off to corner to enjoy WASPy Christmas*

Vat? So I want some emotion? Big phucking deal!

If I have to interfaith…it had better be fun. Otherwise, why bother with that disgusting ham?
