Books! Books! Glorious Books!

Posted by High Priestess Kang as Amusement, Celebrations

It’s 08:52.  Dock and I have already disposed of the Christmas pressies.  Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful gifts were received (giving?  what’s that?  we’re too poor to do engage in that game.).

No present exchange would be complete without books.  After all, this is Dock and me, we’re talking about here.  We had to remind ourselves to put down our new treasures and continue with the present opening at times.

My haul of literature is quite diverse and probably not the most, “intellectually” impressive.  At least, it is nothing that would get me into Grad school, let alone the 5th grade.  But it amuses me and that’s all that matters.  Me.  Oh wait…I mean amusement.

Kang’s book haul:

Tis a true embarrassment of riches.

Score!

I failed to mention two are hardbacks.  The best kind!  …Until one must move, that is.

Books are the best. I am getting a hard cover Swedish dictionary. Yay! Memorization begins… Thank Gud everyone liked my modest givings. Even the wine cork ornaments! Of course I will probably receive a note not unlike the above. Merry Christmas to Kang and Dock.

Oooh! Hardback Swedish dictionary? O_O

All that I have are paperbacks. They are next to impossible for me to find, too.

I used to collect French/English dictionaries for some reason. Along with older English ones, I guess, as well. I like watching the evolution of language.

*snorts like a nerd*

Glad the corks were a hit. I was thinking about you this evening when I uncorked the Beaujolais for dinner.

My favourite part of Amy Sedaris’ book is the proposed party guest list to include serial killers and drunken teenagers.

Can you just imagine what their family get-togethers must be like? I think I would die. Seriously. Die.

You must grab a copy of Jewtopia, too. I haven’t screamed this much at a book since, “Me Talk Pretty One Day.”

While much different subject, find the book by Dave Eggers called What is the What. It’s on the McSweeney’s website.

Aaaah…I see it.

Am I going to want to throw myself in front of a bus after reading it?
