Dinner

Wow.  Who would have thought slaving away in the kitchen all day would result in a meal that looks, well, modest?  Then again…everything is made from scratch (including the growing of the potatoes, the milling of the flour and the slaughtering of the cow - kidding).

Keeping with our tradition of the past four (or is it five) years, Dock and I enjoyed our typical Jul/Christmas fare.  A little Jewish and a little WASP sprinkled with some Swedish cuisine.  I have no idea how this started, but it’s our thing and we love it.  Oddly enough…I completely forgot about making the cucumber salad.  Grrrrrrr.

As luck would have it, I managed to burn out fairly early.  The fever is back and I’m having that brain melting feeling.

Time to curl up with a book and drift off to sleep.  The perfect ending to any holiday, in my opinion.

Everything looks fabulous, especially that cake! I hope you and Dock enjoyed your julbord, and that you feel better soon. *hugs Kang*

It looks fantastic. Last night we were so lazy we just tossed some pasta and broccoli in olive oil and spices. (Oh, and The Boyfriend made saffron gingerbread cheesecakes. mmmm.)

Oooh…thanks, Kitten!!!

That cake is very easy to make (like socker kaka, but I add chocolate chips and almond extract). If you are interested in the recipe, let me know.

Thanks for the well wishes, too!

Saffron gingerbread cheesecakes? That sounds marvelous. As does the pasta.

*drools*

I’m hungry and it’s only 09:46.

It looks great. The bottle of wine and the candles are a nice touch. I hope that Dock and yourself had a good time eating the Julbord.

Thank you!!!

The wine was the best part. ;)

I half-assed made the gravy for the köttbullar. Just glancing at a recipe and deciding it didn’t seem savory enough for me. A little pinch of allspice and some pepper really helped.

Next time, I’m thinking of using a little more beef bouillon though. Just seemed a little too light for my tastes.

The wine was *fabulous.*

You didn’t invite me to the dinner! Grrrr!

I so did invite you to dinner! And I gave you a U-Boat.

So there!

Dinner looks great! No wonder you were nowhere to be found yesterday. Glad you had a bottle of wine as well. Hope you are feeling better.

Thank you.

I think I’m done with domestic duties for the rest of the year. I cannot allow a precedent to be set for Dock. He will expect home cooked meals from now on.

The wine was good.

Fever…I think it’s still here but I haven’t been arsed to check.

Severe case of food-lude right now. Tooooo much for lunch, yet I find myself aching for chocolate.

Hope you’re drying out at the Coast!

I vote for Christmas dinner at Kang’s house in 2007! I hope you both had a great day. :D
